Joshua Tree National Park, California

Joshua Tree is the place I go to be still and think. The mornings are the most beautiful time of day, when the rising sun casts a rosy glow over the desert.
I woke up early enough to catch the sunrise; yes I was in my PJ's, but no one else was up!
Joshua Trees are quirky trees that aren't really trees at all but giant yuccas. In the spring they produce huge, waxy white blooms.
Joshua Trees are like people; they come in all shapes and sizes! Pinon pine trees intermix with the Joshua and oak trees.
Crazy art in the form of a plant.
The best part about Joshua tree is the rocks; huge boulders, rock slabs, rock mountains all composed of this incredible granite that is perfect for climbing. I don't use ropes, just scramble over the rocks for fun.
Even in death there is beauty.
Joshua Tree is a wilderness Park, which means there are no amenities like stores or food stands; just trees, rocks, sky and sand. That is what I love about it; truly a place to sit and be still.
