Cedar Creek Falls, Southern California

Cedar Creek Falls, our destination in Julian.
Last Saturday I took a hike with a group from church. Orville took us to one of the most beautiful places in southern California that I have ever seen; Cedar Creek Falls just outside of Julian.
Wildflowers were blooming profusely throughout the mountains.
Cedar Creek; wonderfully wild, rugged and beautiful.
Lush mountain greenery....view from the top as we were hiking down into the valley.

It isn't that bad hiking down to the falls as it is all downhill; you should have seen me hiking back up.....definitely a bit of huffing and puffing going on, but it was worth it!

I sat at the base of the falls and enjoyed my sandwich, the scenery, the rushing water and new found friends.

Unbelievable heart wrenching beauty......

Joshua Tree National Park, California

Picture perfect, round rocks, weird and wonderful......
Last weekend, before the rain hit, I spent several days up in Joshua Tree; one of my favorite places. This was my first time out at Barker Dam and I was delighted to find so much water filling the dam.
"When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, I the Lord will hear them; I will open rivers in desolate heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water and the dry land springs of water." Isaiah 41:17-18

Beautiful reflections in the pool of water.
On my last morning in the Park, I woke up to perfect lighting, so I raced out in my jammies and started snapping pictures of Hidden Valley where I was camping. This is my favorite picture so far!
Rugged rocks on the Hidden Valley Nature Loop Trail.
Behind the campground, there are all kinds of places to wander and explore....this being one of them.

Back to nature...that's where I wanna be.
